Remote Magnetic
Compass Adjustment

Magnetic compass adjustment done online. Order the service, your officer enters the headings and photos from the bridge, and the platform handles the calculation. A certified adjuster reviews and signs off, and your deviation certificate is issued the same day. No adjuster on board, no port call, no weeks of waiting.

Five steps. No back and forth.

The whole job runs through the platform. What used to be weeks of email and a port visit is now a guided form and a same-day certificate.

The requirement

Under SOLAS Chapter V, every vessel must carry a properly adjusted standard magnetic compass and keep a current deviation table on board at all times. The adjustment itself is the work of a duly authorised, certified compass adjuster.

Northy meets both. The data is processed to ISO 25862:2019 limits and IMO A.382(X) standards, and every certificate is reviewed and signed off by a certified adjuster before it is issued.

· Questions

The things people ask first.

Is a remotely adjusted compass certificate legally valid?
Yes. The requirement under SOLAS Chapter V is a properly adjusted magnetic compass with a current deviation table, with the adjustment carried out by a certified compass adjuster. Northy delivers exactly that: the readings are processed to ISO 25862:2019 limits and IMO A.382(X) standards, and every certificate is reviewed and digitally signed by a certified adjuster before it is issued.
Does an adjuster need to come on board?
No, and that is the point. Your officer takes the readings on the bridge following the guided steps, and the certified adjuster works remotely. No port call, no travel, no waiting for someone to be available in your area.
How long does it take?
Typically the certificate is issued the same day your readings are submitted and reviewed, against the two to three weeks a conventional in-person visit can take once travel and scheduling are added.
What if the first swing is not within limits?
You re-swing. There are unlimited re-swings for two years on your plan at no extra charge, so the compass can be adjusted as many times as it takes to bring it inside the ISO limits.
What does it cost?
€600 for a single vessel, €550 per vessel on a fleet plan of 10 or more, and custom pricing for enterprise. Flat, with no travel charges added.
